Galas Corner are designed to be used in a Top Hat Coil Restraint system. The Galas Corner are sold in pairs and come complete with 8mm winged grab hooks, all rated to 3800kg Lashing Capacity.
Silverback provides a wide range of chain angles to protect your goods from damage during transportation. Galas Corner are used to prevent damage to product edges or surfaces while maintaining a solid restraint system to secure bulky coils.

Wally Galas
Wally Galas isn't your ordinary truckie; his hands-on experience, creativity, and welding skills led to a breakthrough in redefining load restraint in heavy transport. In 1999, Wally identified a critical safety issue while hauling 14-tonne steel coils. His concern for safety and knack for problem-solving spurred him to action, resulting in the invention of the Galas Corner®.
Journey to Invention
The genesis of the Galas Corner® didn't start in a corporate R&D lab but on the open road. With years of load restraint experience, Wally saw the dangers of steel coils being transported with insufficient security. He understood the safety risks and knew there had to be a better way. In 1999, taking matters into his own hands, Wally used his backshed and metalworking talents over one weekend to create the first Galas Corner® prototype.
Crafted by Hands, Designed for Safety
Wally's design was deceptively simple but incredibly effective. After months of rigorous testing by BHP, it was endorsed by BlueScope Steel as the product of choice that addressed real-world transportation conditions, providing a practical and reliable solution. His invention allowed round coils to be secured in a square configuration, minimising movement and maximising safety. The Galas Corner® was a product of Wally's skills and deep understanding of the daily real-world challenges steel transport companies faced.
Recognition and Impact
The Silverback Galas Corner® has now not only been improved with a magnetised option, but has also undergone further engineering and testing. Endorsements from logistics professionals and corporate testimonials underscore its effectiveness, with many praising its simplicity and reliability in safeguarding heavy steel loads. Now a fully patent protected and trademarked product, exclusive to Silverback, it is an indispensable tool in the steel transport industry. The device has also prompted a review of safety standards, leading to more stringent regulations prioritising secure transportation.
